Christian Cota Designs All-Inclusive Bracelets for Paradisus Resorts

Few things are as tacky as the paper bracelets bestowed upon guests at all-inclusive resorts. Neon strands piled on can effectively ruin your pool-side look. But if you’re bound for one of the Paradisus Resorts in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica or Cancun expect some designer wrist wear. The luxury hotel chain has tapped Christian Cota to create their bracelets. Cota, who has dressed stars like Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, and Carrie Underwood, is no stranger to tropical escapes, having grown up in Mexico. Guests will have no problem wearing these hemp and white gold designs that each feature the resorts’ logo on embossed coconut shell. On my last few shopping trips, I noticed a spike in the amount of floral-motif jewelry. Rings, pendants, bracelets, necklaces, earings… you name it! Naomi Campbell is known all over the globe and now she is very popular in Russia thanks to her tender relationship with Russian oligarch Vladislav Doronin.

The supermodel, who makes men’s heads dizzy, graces Russian Vogue April 2010 issue for Jewelry photo shoot. She looks gorgeous wearing chic jewelry pieces and glamorous outfits.
The runway star hears that she is beautiful every day but doesn’t attach much importance to it.

She says:

I have people around me who tell me I’m beautiful. But that goes in one ear and comes out the other.”

Naomi is also famous for struggling to make the fashion world less racist. She agrees that now it has become much more open for girls of any skin color but still there is more work to be done.

The 39-year-old beauty, who used to be one of only a few black models when she was first discovered, said:

I don’t like to use the word ‘racism’. I said ‘territorialism’. I still feel it could be opened up more in the sense of using more women from every ethnicity. I went to see Vivienne Westwood’s show and I was happy to see models of colour on the runway. I think London has always been open to it. When I started off there were always women of colour in the French shows, so when there were suddenly none it was very bizarre.”

Adrian Lewis – a gem of a jeweller

In a world where true craftsmanship is rare and passion is in short supply, a man like Adrian Lewis is a gem (pardon the cliche.) At his Christmas cocktail soiree, Adrian took us around his workshop and explained the functions of the traditional machinery and tools that reside there, and though I bugged him with a thousand questions of childlike curiosity, his enthusiasm never waned. For that very reason you know that when you pick up a piece of Adrian’s stunning statement jewellery it is truly unique, and has some meaningful story or thought process behind it.

Not only are Adrian’s pieces unique, they tend to be very limited editions (only up to five of any one piece are ever created). Commission a piece and you’ll get the original hand-drawn watercolour sketches to go with it.
